Melting Pod is a communication project based in Bologna, dedicated to the production of audio content and podcasts. An innovative, narrative and branded communication.
We are a team of journalists with years of experience in the production of radio content. We are part of the wider network of communicators of Be-Open, the communication agency of Open Group. We address companies, cooperatives and public bodies (in Bologna and elsewhere) engaged in social, cultural and educational, with particular attention to sustainability. We give voice to realities and projects, developing customized communication strategies where audio is always at the centre. And to make it possible, we have chosen the podcast.
There are four of us: Massimiliano Colletti (that’s me), Giovanni Stinco, Roberta Cristofori and Matteo Poppi, who’s the project manager. Melting Pod is a project that deals with podcasts and audio products. The name of the company is actually NetLit srl, which was born in 2017 from the experience we had in FM and DAB radio. We all came from a radio station that was in Bologna and Melting Pod is the continuation of that project.
What does podcasting mean? It means that we talk about what’s happening in Italy and elsewhere in the world of business, cooperation, art, culture and so on. And we also do it for companies: these are the so-called “branded podcasts”. Basically, we deal with audio products and podcasts; plus we also have a part that deals with Media Literacy: we show young people how radio works, we teach them how to create audio content.
Let’s say that NetLit, through us at Melting Pod, has turned to companies, cooperatives and public bodies engaged in the social, cultural and educational fields, with a particular focus on sustainability. We have created several podcasts for different local realities, all distributed for free through platforms such as Spreaker and Spotify. Among these we point out Sfide (Challenges), realized for Impronta Etica, which tells about the world of business; a travel podcast, Il mondo da scoprire (The world to discover), realized for Robintur, which tells about territories from a cultural and social point of view; Dietro le quinte (Behind the scenes) (in collaboration with ERT), a podcast about theatre that tells about the most important national and international productions with interviews to directors, actors and audience; Apnee, Attività produttive non necessarie (Apneas, unnecessary production activities), a story about how the pandemic has changed the art world and how artists are reacting today; and many others!
Because this is a place that crosses the city, and this allows us to be present within the community in which we live. Here there is the possibility of creating a new, modern and contemporary creative community, in which so many skills come together, linking the intelligence of everyone. In the future, a step forward could be to create and collaborate together with the many realities present in this space.
Well, I don’t know if we can reveal them… Let’s say that we would like to tell, through audio, everything that Bologna is going through again, so the most interesting things that are happening in the city right now.
I have no idea, I’ll have to think about it and tell you in a week. Video Killed the Radio Star comes to mind and the podcast takes over. I don’t know though….
Noisy! Because by the way, our claim would be “At high(r)o volume”! Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
